We have a boa constrictor house
big lumps of boxes and books and sacks
pass through and fill closets and shelves,
nooks and crannies, corners and cracks –
before what’s left empties into “free” piles –
parents’ and sons’ and our life’s culls
expanding and shrinking the belly
of the beast – full, then purged, then full
again – in a never-ending cycle of recycling.
