A Political Homophone Story

Eye believe it is thyme wants again four a homophone story:

Wants upon a thyme their lived a little buoy who wanted too grow up two bee famous and admired. He spent all his thyme working two reach this goal buy yelling his name from the rooftops and telling people how grate he was – “Eye am the best they’re ever was!” he yelled, hoping people wood believe hymn. “Know won has ever done a better job than mi!” he crowed. Know won was exactly sure what he had done or inn what weigh he was better than anywon else, butt after a while folks started to believe hymn when he said he was the best.

Inn the next village over their lived another little buoy who wanted too grow up and make the whirled a better place. He spent all his thyme working two reach this goal buy bee-ing kind and fair too everywon he met, and helping others when he could. He didn’t have thyme two shout his name from the rooftops, butt the people he helped remembered hymn. They remembered hymn when he served in the Navy and exposed hymnself too radiation inn a nuclear power plant and saved mini lives. They remembered hymn when he helped build houses fore them. They remembered hymn as kind and brave.

When these to little buoys grew up they both became presidents of there country – won of them ran too make the whirled a better place and the other ran too bee admired – butt they each only served won term befour they were voted out of office.

The man who had wanted two make the whirled a better place kept working too make the whirled a better place after he was know longer president. He still built houses for the pour and worked four peace in the whirled.

The man who had wanted too bee famous and admired continued two shout his name from the rooftops, and he continued two bee famous, and he continued two bee admired buy sum.

They both got what they wanted in this life.

The end.

It is Time for Him to Resign

I’m not one of those folks who has a need to see our current President led away in chains and locked up – I don’t have a need for anyone to suffer – but I really hope that this man will resign soon so our nation can begin the process of recovery and healing from the injuries he and his administration have inflicted on us. Our environment has been trashed. Literally. Children have been separated from their parents – and some have died. Hate crimes against minorities have increased. Federal employees have been thrown aside like they don’t matter. Our economy is going down the toilet. We are in trouble here.

Is There One Issue So Important?

So is there one issue that is so important to you you’d be willing to sacrifice democracy, the First Amendment, the environment, and the safety, financial security, and health care of your fellow citizens if you thought it meant getting what you wanted on this one issue? Is there one issue that would lead you to vote for someone you know is unfit to be a leader just so you could have this one thing?

Because I’m thinking that might be how we ended up in our current situation.

A New Ending for an Old Poem

“If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

“If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools…”
– Rudyard Kipling, If

Karen’s ending:
If you can think bigger than what’s best for you alone
And consider the needs and wants of others before your own
If you’re able to function without a computer or cellphone
And in the midst of crises keep an even-tempered tone
If you’re willing to give your life to serve a noble cause
And not expect to be appreciated, thanked, or be “The Boss”
Then you are the woman or the man I want for Pres.
You are the person who might lead us out of this mess.
– Karen

Answers to a Political Survey

A friend posted a link to a conservative political survey on Facebook. Here are some of the questions and my answers:

How would you rate the current direction of our economy?
Corporations are running our economy. I would like to see the power go back into the hands of the human citizens.

Which issue would you like to see prioritized more?
I would like to see our nation’s representatives fight for the middle and lower classes, rather than be in the pockets of the wealthy and corporations. I would like to have the people who represent us recognize that global warming is a real danger to us. I would like to see all the citizens of our country – including the poor and disenfranchised – have access to affordable health care. I would like our President to actually care about EVERYone he represents – and not just wealthy white males. I would like our President to realize he works for us, and that we don’t work for him. I would like women to have control over their own bodies.

Do you think immigration should be reduced until unemployment drops?
No. Immigration isn’t causing unemployment. Shipping jobs overseas is, however.

Do you think universities today indoctrinate rather than teach students?
No. Our students need to learn to question their own beliefs, assess information for accuracy and bias, and think critically. Students need to be taught the skills that will help them recognize that your question has built-in bias.

What else do you think the President needs to know about the real America? We’re listening.
No. You are not listening. If you were listening, you wouldn’t even be asking these questions. If you were listening you’d actually be trying to help all Americans have access to health care. If you were listening, you’d be lowering taxes for the poor and middle-class, and raising taxes for the rich – rather than the other way around. You are assuming that American citizens are ignorant, uneducated, and only out for themselves. You have become dinosaurs as the rest of the country has moved on. Catch up.

I want a leader who…

I’ve been giving a lot of thought lately to the kind of person I’d like to see running for President of the U.S. of A. Here’re my thoughts, thus far:

  • I do not care what gender this person is, or what religion or non-religion this person practices. I don’t care about this person’s ethnicity, or what generation this person is from, and I don’t care if this person ends sentences and phrases with dangling prepositions.
  • I want a leader who can inspire the people of my nation to be kinder, braver, more honest, more selfless, less hateful, and less bigoted.
  • I want a leader who values education, and has made an effort to keep learning and seek wisdom.
  • I want a leader who is humbled by power, and knows when to use it – and when not to use it.
  • I want a leader who understands that a President is an employee of the people – elected by the people to serve, not be served.
  • I want a leader with a vision for the future that includes peace and prosperity for all.
  • I want a leader who can give us hope.
  • I want a leader who cares about others.
  • I want a leader who believes that good can win.
  • I want a leader who believes that love is power.

Anybody got anything they’d like to add?
